Personnel Security Specialist

You will serve as a Personnel Security Specialist, in the Personnel Security Section of Human Resources Management Service. You will be responsible for performing a full range of tasks associated with establishing, maintaining and enforcing all regulations related to Personnel Suitability and Security. The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Ensures that Special Agreement Check (SAC) is initiated prior to entry on duty for all new appointees, contractors, and volunteer.
• Properly maintains and uses electronic fingerprinting equipment to fingerprint all new appointees, and transmits on a daily basis, those fingerprints to the Office of Personnel Management.
• Conducts security and suitability adjudications related to background investigations.
• Reviews completed personnel suitability investigations with the purpose of providing recommendations on pre-employment and continued employment considerations.
• Provides authoritative information and assistance by administrating programs for continuous security evaluation of personnel.
• Works with Staffing Section and Processing/Records Section on the E-Qip program.
• Follows up on personnel security cases with issues.
• Analyzes information and provides a variety of reports for review at all levels.

Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Work Schedule:

Administrative day tour, Monday - Friday

Compressed/Flexible:
Available at supervisory discretion

Telework:
This position may be authorized for ad hoc telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
