Position Location:
Department of Tourist Development, Marion County (on‑site at Nickajack Welcome Center).
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to one year of full‑time labor and trade work, including routine building maintenance.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
Under immediate supervision, performs unskilled and skilled building maintenance work of routine difficulty; assists in a variety of tasks including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and general mechanical repair work. This class differs from Building Maintenance Worker 2, which works under general supervision and performs semi‑skilled and skilled work.
Responsibilities- Identify maintenance issues to repair, resolve, or report.
- Operate a variety of tools and equipment such as hand and power tools, plungers, sewer rodders, drills, skill saws, and grinders.
- Dismantle devices such as electrical fixtures, basic plumbing fixtures, or outlets to access, remove, and replace defective parts.
- Perform minor HVAC repairs, basic carpentry tasks, routine plumbing and electrical tasks, repairs, and painting/decorating; perform landscaping and janitorial tasks.
- Review preventative maintenance plans to carry out routine preventive maintenance and ensure equipment and building systems run smoothly.
- Complete work‑order request forms to log repair work and routine reports of time expended and materials used.
- Communicate with outside vendors and customers to provide basic customer service and direct individuals to appropriate solutions.
- May operate state‑issued pickup truck, golf cart, watercraft, or other vehicle.
