Job Details- Hourly position
- Location:
covering Murfreesboro, TN and Tullahoma, TN areas - Hourly wage based on experience
- Oversee, coach, and model safety procedures and policies at all times.
- Provide leadership and responsibility for safety, scheduling, workforce planning, coordinating, supervising and assisting with cost control; ensuring consistent and fair application of all SSC policies and procedures.
- Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of field employees in site, road, and subdivision construction, including excavation, filling, compaction, and testing of materials; responsible for underground utility installation on sites.
- Knowledge of mass grading sequencing and placement of excavated material. Ability to do field layout and coordinate with surveyors and engineers as required.
- Inspect work sites to determine sequencing and method of utility installation and survey for potential hazards or safety concerns.
- Knowledge of sediment control devices, erosion regulations, and installation methods.
- Identify, verify, and report scheduling conflicts, needs, or deficiencies with other crews and subcontractors to the appropriate persons when applicable.
- Understand and communicate safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance in all areas of safety, while identifying the needs for crew safety training; conduct daily safety meetings and complete JSA for tasks dependent on the specific task and severity of potential damage or injury.
- Assess competency and capability of employees on the project and evaluate the capabilities of crew members, recognizing and addressing issues that may arise among crew members and providing effective resolutions and guidance.
- Supervise all company equipment and vehicle use; ensure all maintenance procedures are followed, including daily pre-ops. Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and work with mechanics and vendors to provide economical solutions.
- Responsible for record‑keeping and documentation of employee hours and equipment time.
- 2‑4 years supervisory experience in grading operations.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
- Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand grade stakes.
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications for the job.
- Work in a noisy environment that may require hearing protection.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
- Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Willingness to work in a team environment.
- Provide valid documentation for the I‑9 immigration requirement.
- Must be drug‑free and able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen, physical, and possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Willingness to adhere to RGI and OSHA safety standards.
