SUMMARY

The Warehouse Technician is responsible for the daily management, organization, and security of warehouse inventory, materials, and equipment. This role ensures accurate inventory control by receiving, storing, issuing, tracking, and reconciling materials used by technicians and contractors.

The technician works independently under the supervision of the Accounting Supervisor and plays a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy, minimizing loss, and supporting field operations.

POSITION SCHEDULE AND ONSITE REQUIREMENTS

This position is based at our Murfreesboro, TN office. The Position may require travel to our Chapel Hill warehouse location as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include the following, but other duties may be assigned as required.

  • Maintains control over the physical security of all warehouses and inventory by keeping warehouses locked and secured and assisting employees and contractors in obtaining materials.
  • Issues inventory to trucks daily using an inventory checkout sheet.
  • Scans the serial number or asset tag for each item checked out to trucks.
  • Transfers returned inventory back into main warehouse from the field.
  • Assists with ordering stock and non-stock items in accordance with purchase order procedures, monitors inventory to identify low stock levels, and orders replenishments as needed while efficiently utilizing automated systems.
  • Ensures the company receives the best possible price for all items by obtaining multiple quotes for purchases whenever possible, including three quotes for high-volume or high-value items.
  • Maintains strong relationships with suppliers and keeps the supervisor informed of any issues that may arise.
  • Determines proper account coding for purchases; determines if items should be capitalized or expensed.
  • Receives and processes inventory items in the warehouse.
  • Enters purchase receipts for all orders into the system and promptly scans the signed receipt.
  • Scans the serial number or asset tag for each item upon receipt.
  • Identifies discrepancies between the packing slip and received items and coordinates with the supervisor for follow-up.
  • Responsible for following procedures related to damaged inventory.
  • Ensures equipment testing by appropriate personnel to identify any defects.
  • For defective items with a valid warranty, coordinates with staff to follow RMA procedures, ships items, follows up on replacements, and maintains documentation.
  • For items without a valid warranty, sends documentation to the Senior Accounting Specialist and Billing Specialist for removal from inventory and billing.
  • Conducts random and quarterly inventory counts of technician and contractor trucks, as well as high-value or frequently used items, with annual inventory counts for all items.
  • Periodically reviews warehouse for obsolete items, informing the supervisor and attempting to find buyers. Scraps items that cannot be sold.
  • Tests and cleans equipment returned from customer disconnects before redeployment.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized warehouse, lot, and office space.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • High School diploma required; 1+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to successfully complete and maintain a DOT physical examination/medical certification as required for operation of company vehicles.
  • Ability to comply with all applicable DOT safety regulations.
  • PC Skills - requires an advanced understanding of accounting software, with advanced word processing and email skills, along with the ability to review and analyze reports in company systems. Must be proficient using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to touch-type at 40+ WPM and use a 10-key required.
