A Day in the Life of an Apprentice Sprayshop and Body Technician
- Preparing vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, and priming.
- Assisting with body repairs on vans, cars, and construction plant equipment.
- Mixing and applying paints using spray guns and other specialist tools.
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment in the sprayshop.
- Supporting qualified technicians with complex repairs and refinishing tasks.
- Inspecting finished work for quality and compliance with standards.
Skills You Will Learn
- Surface preparation techniques for different vehicle types and materials.
- Paint mixing, colour matching, and spray application methods.
- Body panel repair and replacement processes.
- Safe use of tools, equipment, and personal protective gear.
- Understanding of industry standards and quality control procedures.
- Problem-solving and attention to detail in vehicle finishing.
What qualification will I receive through the apprenticeship? As part of this apprenticeship, you will receive a Level 3 qualification which takes up to 3 years to complete.
Where will I be based on the apprenticeship? For this apprenticeship you will be based at either our Hemel Hempstead, Golborne, Cannock or Ollerton Depot.
What do I need to be considered for the apprenticeship?
- GCSE Maths and English at grade A*- C/ 4-9 (or equivalent).
- You don’t need to have previous experience for the role, but you do need to be ready to learn, have a positive mindset and a can-do attitude!
- Eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit if applicable. Please note, that we do not provide sponsorship.
