Summary Of

Job Duties And Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Alumni Communication and Outreach, under the supervision of the Director of Alumni Relations, develops, plans and executes strategic content, multi-channel alumni communications and digital engagement, exercising creativity and independent judgment, adaptability, and decision-making while maintaining alignment with University Advancement priorities.

  • Develop and implement multi-channel communication strategies with consistent messaging and branding, including segmented outreach to alumni, donors, friends and other constituencies of the University.
  • Assess, track, and report alumni communication and outreach metrics to evaluate participation, effectiveness, and return on effort.
  • Develop, write, edit, and manage content for alumni website, e-newsletters, social media platforms, publications, and other communications.
  • Ensure all communications align with branding and editorial standards. Copyedit content following AP and institutional guidelines.
  • Assist Assistant Director of Alumni Relations in executing communication requests with colleges and academic units. Collaborate with Advancement Services on data requests, segmentation, and distribution where needed.
  • Manage official alumni social media accounts. Create and oversee a Social Media Ambassadors program. Monitor trends and analytics to improve engagement.
  • Develop promotional materials and support planning and execution of alumni engagement events.
  • Support strategic events and activities as needed, including Homecoming, Tent City and class reunions, Distinguished Alumni, Distinguished Professor, Top 22 Under 40, Golden Horseshoe awards, athletics-related alumni events, and other University-sponsored programs.
  • Maintain accurate records, files, and documentation related to programs, policies, projects, and special events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or Higher Education is highly preferred.
Minimum Experience And Skill Requirements
  • Three years of professional experience in communications, marketing, nonprofit advancement, fundraising, sales or a related field.
  • Experience with communication platforms including social media, email marketing, video, print, event execution and website strategy.
  • Experience using graphic design and publishing software for digital and print communications.
