Production Manager

Overview

To manage the production of the establishment; to ensure that the highest standards are achieved and maintained in accordance with quality policies and that all legal specifications are adhered to in line with the Health and Safety Policy. Working with the management team, development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies, practices supported by Lean manufacturing methodologies. Facilities change agent, driving, and achieving sustainable results.

The position is accountable for production performance, labor utilization, safety, quality, on-time delivery, and operational efficiency within assigned manufacturing areas. This role is expected to maintain a strong floor presence, promote employee accountability and development, drive adherence to standardized processes, and support a culture focused on teamwork, problem solving, Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

• Lead and coordinate daily manufacturing operations to support safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives.
• Oversee production activities, staffing, workflow coordination, and operational performance within assigned manufacturing areas.
• Provide leadership, direction, accountability, and support to production personnel and front-line leadership.
• Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Logistics, Planning, and Human Resources to support operational requirements and resolve production-related issues.
• Monitor production performance and support corrective actions related to safety, quality, downtime, labor efficiency, scrap, and delivery performance.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, standardized work instructions, and operational standards.
• Drive lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma initiatives focused on operational efficiency, process stability, productivity, and waste reduction.
• Maintain a regular presence on the production floor to monitor operations, support employees, and reinforce operational expectations.
• Support employee development, training, performance management, and workforce accountability initiatives.
• Participate in production planning activities, process improvements, operational projects, and new product launch support activities as required.
• Maintain accurate operational reporting and support proper utilization of SAP/ERP and production tracking systems.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices including those related to safety and health.
• Collaborates with other departmental managers to develop and execute budget including Cap Ex needs.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
• Participate in and support Audits, Customer and/or Supplier visits, and other monitoring and reporting activities as needed.
• Customer and supplier support concerning launch, quality, and process issues.
• Participate in community and marketing events.
• Planning and projecting of new equipment
• Responsible for Recording and react to KPI’s for assigned departments

This position maintains authority on the following:

• Authorized to direct daily manufacturing operations and make routine operational decisions necessary to support safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and staffing objectives.
• Authorized to assign labor resources, adjust production priorities, approve routine overtime, and coordinate operational activities within established company policies and budgetary guidelines.
• Responsible for reviewing and approving routine production-related activities, documentation, and operational decisions within assigned areas of responsibility.
• Authorized to provide direction and leadership to Production Supervisors and production personnel regarding daily operational requirements and issue resolution.
