Why This Role Exists

This role exists due to a key opening within the lathe department at Murray Mold & Die.

With steady high-mix, low-volume work and a dedicated 3-machine lathe cell, this position plays a critical role in keeping production moving efficiently and maintaining the shop’s reputation for precision tooling and craftsmanship.

The Work You’ll Be Doing
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes in a print-to-part environment
  • Work from provided programs and blueprints to produce finished components
  • Handle full setups including tooling, offsets, and work holding
  • Run small-to-medium batch jobs in a high-mix, low-volume shop
  • Perform in-process inspection using standard measuring tools
  • Adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets to maintain part quality
  • Work independently within a dedicated lathe cell
Machines, Controls & Software

You’ll work with equipment such as:

  • Machines:
    • Mori Seiki 2500 (Live Tooling Lathes)
    • Hurco 2-Axis CNC Lathe
  • Controls:
    • Fanuc
    • Hurco
  • CAM Software (Optional Exposure):
    • Mastercam
  • Inspection Tools:
    • Calipers, micrometers, gauges
Materials You’ll Work With
  • Tool steels (including some hardened materials)
  • Aluminum
  • Brass & bronze
  • Copper
  • Plastics
What We’re Looking For

Required:
  • 3+ years of CNC lathe machining experience
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes independently
  • Strong blueprint reading skills
  • Experience with Fanuc controls
  • Ability to handle full setups from print to finished part
  • Comfortable working in a high-mix environment
Preferred (Not Required):
  • Live tooling experience
  • Exposure to Mastercam
  • Experience with hard turning

Pay, Benefits & Schedule

Pay Range: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour (DOE) (Potential for higher pay for highly skilled candidates)
