This role exists due to a key opening within the lathe department at Murray Mold & Die.
With steady high-mix, low-volume work and a dedicated 3-machine lathe cell, this position plays a critical role in keeping production moving efficiently and maintaining the shop’s reputation for precision tooling and craftsmanship.
The Work You’ll Be Doing- Set up and operate CNC lathes in a print-to-part environment
- Work from provided programs and blueprints to produce finished components
- Handle full setups including tooling, offsets, and work holding
- Run small-to-medium batch jobs in a high-mix, low-volume shop
- Perform in-process inspection using standard measuring tools
- Adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets to maintain part quality
- Work independently within a dedicated lathe cell
You’ll work with equipment such as:
- Machines:
- Mori Seiki 2500 (Live Tooling Lathes)
- Hurco 2-Axis CNC Lathe
- Controls:
- Fanuc
- Hurco
- CAM Software (Optional Exposure):
- Mastercam
- Inspection Tools:
- Calipers, micrometers, gauges
- Tool steels (including some hardened materials)
- Aluminum
- Brass & bronze
- Copper
- Plastics
Required:
- 3+ years of CNC lathe machining experience
- Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes independently
- Strong blueprint reading skills
- Experience with Fanuc controls
- Ability to handle full setups from print to finished part
- Comfortable working in a high-mix environment
- Live tooling experience
- Exposure to Mastercam
- Experience with hard turning
- Tight-knit, family-run shop with direct access to ownership
- High level of autonomy — no micromanagement
- Clean, organized, and well-equipped facility

Pay Range: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour (DOE) (Potential for higher pay for highly skilled candidates)
