Position: Registered Nurse (RN)- Behavioral Health PRN

Responsibilities

Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health – PRN day and night shift available.

Horizon Health, together with Murray Calloway, is seeking PRN Registered Nurses for the inpatient Behavioral Health unit in Murray, KY. This is a 12‑bed geriatric psychiatric unit. A registered nurse executes comprehensive nursing care activities. The position is responsible for assessing, monitoring, recording and reporting symptoms or changes in patient condition. RNs maintain accurate patient reports and medical histories, perform mental and physical assessments, administer medication and treatment to patients, provide assistance with daily activities, and observe reactions.

They also manage activities within the therapeutic milieu, including daily groups, education, 1:1 interactions, and collaborate with other team members to provide best care for patients.

  • Complete initial nursing assessment within 24 hours of admission per facility policy; reassess routinely throughout patients’ stay.
  • Complete individualized treatment plans for each patient.
  • Plan, implement, and coordinate nursing care activities.
  • Conduct therapies according to patient’s diagnosis and needs.
  • Perform treatment interventions following physician orders such as medication administration.
  • Perform medication reconciliation.
  • Follow voluntary and involuntary procedures/processes.
  • Interpret the nursing and treatment needs of the patient to nonclinical staff assigned to the patient.
  • Ensure patient dignity, respect values, and establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, families, and friends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required by this position.
Qualifications
  • Minimum two‑year associate’s degree.
  • License / Certification:
    • State RN certification/license.
    • CPR certification.
    • American Heart Association BLS and ACLS.
    • Crisis prevention certification.
  • Minimum one year experience preferred with appropriate education.
