Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic
PTL is a 100% employee‑owned company that was founded in 1937 right here in Murray! We are looking for a Level 2 Technician to support our Maintenance team.
Summary:
Performs preventative and non‑scheduled maintenance on heavy duty trucks / trailers and other equipment. Performs repairs or replaces broken parts as necessary with limited supervision. Performs minor body work. May train level 1 technicians. Performs all work in accordance with established practices.
- Performs routine, preventative maintenance and vehicle inspections, in compliance with FMCSA inspection guidelines
- Performs various non‑scheduled repairs on trucks and trailers with limited supervision
- Records all work performed on work orders and inspection forms, responsible for entering accurate information on work orders while maintaining accountability for allocation of parts to specific equipment
- Cleans and maintains assigned work areas
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management

Education, Skills and Experience- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); vocational training preferred, preparation for CDL a plus
- 1‑2 years related experience in tractor/trailer maintenance in a commercial garage or fleet leasing company, minimum 1 year
- A degree in Diesel Mechanics is preferred
- Communication skills, organizational skills, strong problem‑solving skills
- Must demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure
- Must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks
