Burg Children’s Dentistry & Orthodontics is seeking a skilled and compassionate Orthodontic Assistant to join our growing team. Burg provides orthodontic care for children, teens, and adults, with a strong focus on creating a comfortable, engaging experience for patients and families. The ideal candidate is dependable, energetic, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping patients feel confident throughout their orthodontic journey.
As an Orthodontic Assistant, you will work alongside the orthodontist and clinical team to provide high-quality orthodontic care while helping create a positive and comfortable experience for every patient. You will support orthodontic procedures, patient education, treatment preparation, and day-to-day clinical operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assist the orthodontist during examinations, consultations, adjustments, and orthodontic procedures
Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and orthodontic materials
Assist with the placement, adjustment, and removal of orthodontic appliances as directed by the orthodontist and as permitted by applicable state regulations
Take orthodontic records, including digital photographs, X-rays, and impressions or digital scans as needed
Provide patient education regarding orthodontic appliances, oral hygiene, and treatment instructions
Help patients understand and follow care instructions throughout their orthodontic treatment
Maintain clean and organized treatment areas and follow sterilization and infection control protocols
Support an efficient clinical workflow and positive patient experience
Assist with orthodontic emergencies and patient concerns as directed by the clinical team
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous orthodontic assisting experience preferred
Previous dental assisting experience will be considered
Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, instruments, appliances, and terminology
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
Experience working with children, teens, and families is a plus
