Responsibilities

Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings, shop drawings, and build packets for fabrication teams.

Translate design renderings, sketches, and creative concepts into structurally sound, fabrication-ready plans.

Develop material lists, cut lists, hardware specifications, and assembly instructions.

Collaborate closely with fabricators, carpenters, welders, painters, project managers, and production leads to ensure accuracy and feasibility.

Revise drawings based on feedback from shop leads, onsite supervisors, and designers.

Ensure all drawings meet safety standards, weight‑load considerations, and event‑industry best practices.

Maintain organized drawing files, version control, and documentation for each project.

Support onsite teams with installation drawings, exploded views, and layout plans as needed.

Participate in production meetings to clarify build details and resolve technical challenges.

Assist with R&D, prototyping, and testing of new scenic elements or fabrication methods.

Qualifications

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Fusion 360, Solid Works, or similar CAD platforms.

Strong understanding of fabrication methods including carpentry, metalwork, scenic construction, and finishing.

Ability to read and produce technical drawings, elevations, sections, and detailed build plans.

Knowledge of materials such as wood, steel, aluminum, plastics, foams, fabrics, and scenic finishes.

Excellent spatial reasoning and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to rapid project changes.

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Experience in event production, theatrical scenery, trade show fabrication, or experiential design.

Understanding of rigging, weight loads, structural safety, and event‑industry installation practices.

Familiarity with CNC workflows, laser cutting, or digital fabrication tools.

Ability to produce renderings or visualizations for internal or client review.

Experience working in a fast‑paced fabrication shop with multiple overlapping deadlines.

Additional Information Physical & Environmental Expectations

Ability to walk the shop floor, take measurements, and collaborate directly with fabrication teams.

Occasional lifting of materials or prototypes up to 25 lbs.

Exposure to typical shop environments: noise, dust, tools, and machinery.

Occasional onsite work during installations, load‑ins, or technical rehearsals.

Work Environment

Fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment aligned with event production schedules.

Collaboration with creative, production, and fabrication teams.

Mix of office‑based drafting work and hands‑on shop interaction.
