At AECOM, we are an infrastructure consulting firm that partners with clients to solve complex challenges. We are looking for a well‑qualified Traffic or ITS Engineer to support a hybrid role in multiple offices across the Greater Midwest and Greater Southwest.
Responsibilities- Support a team of professionals to deliver traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulation, and conceptual planning/design.
- Develop plan sheets, specifications & estimates, technical memoranda, reports, and presentations.
- Manage ITS or emerging technology projects following the systems engineering process.
- Serve in various roles on traffic/ITS projects.
- Actively participate in the team’s production of technical deliverables such as plans, specifications, estimates, and reports.
- Work with Early in Career staff and review technical work and project documentation.
- Deliver assigned tasks on schedule and budget while adhering to AECOM quality standards.
- Coordinate directly with other discipline groups within AECOM, external clients, and sub-consultants.
- Perform work in accordance with agreed‑upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
- Independently perform all tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
- Coordinate with Business Development leaders to capture project opportunities.
- BA/BS and 4 years of relevant experience, or equivalent education/experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in civil engineering fields such as traffic control design, traffic studies, ITS engineering, or traffic staging.
- Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain a PE license within 6 months.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using traffic and traffic simulation software and design platforms.
- Ability to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, good command of the English language, time‑management ability, and a positive attitude toward work.
