Job Description

A Medical Assistant has accountability for providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This will involve caring for patients with acute and chronic needs, and communicating clearly with patients through telephone and in‑person interactions.

• Shift details:
  Full Time, 40 hours/week.
• Clinic hours:
  Monday‑Friday, 8:00am‑5:00pm.
• Scheduled shifts:
  Tuesday‑Friday, 7:30am‑6:00pm.
• Location:
  
  Intermountain Medical Center, Neurosciences Epilepsy Clinic, Murray, Utah.
• Hourly rate: $19.87‑$28.31 (based on experience).

• Provide patient care under the direction of the clinician, assisting the provider in gathering patient information and supporting the visit.
• Communicate clearly with patients via telephone and in‑person interactions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on patient care, ensuring attention to detail and follow‑through.

• Proof of completion of a Medical Assistant program, or at least one year of Medical Assistant work experience, or current active RN/LPN license in Utah.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers, obtained prior to start date.
• Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry.
• Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver high level of customer/patient satisfaction.
• Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and PHI of patients, members, and caregivers.
• Utah only:
  If certified with less than one year of MA experience, caregivers may attend a year‑long MA residency program.

• Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
• Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
• Current national MA certification:
  Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.

• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment.
• Frequent verbal communication with patients and providers, requiring hearing, comprehension, and accuracy.
• Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment, frequent computer use and typing.
• Ability to lift, transfer, and move patients; lift, retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights.
• Ability to push/pull gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
• Expect to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Drive a vehicle, if required, needing sitting, seeing, reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
