Job Description
A Medical Assistant at Intermountain Health is responsible for providing patient care in an ambulatory clinic setting, assisting clinicians with examinations, and communicating clearly with patients through telephone and in‑person interactions. The role involves caring for patients with both acute and chronic needs while ensuring high levels of patient satisfaction.
Shift Details40 hours/week, full time. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday 7:30 am–4:00 pm. Scheduled shifts may be 4‑10 people per shift from 7:30 am–6:00 pm, or 5‑8 people per shift from 7:30 am–4:00 pm.

Additional DetailsCandidate must be willing to rotate between all 7 clinics/locations. Prior experience with EKGs is preferred.
Role- Provide patient care under the direction of the clinician, assisting with the collection of patient information relevant to visits.
- Communicate clearly with patients via telephone and in‑person interactions.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to coordinate patient care, paying close attention to detail and follow‑through.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program, at least one year of Medical Assistant experience, or an active RN/LPN license in Utah.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers, obtained prior to start date.
- Basic computer skills for word processing and data entry.
- Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with patients and colleagues to deliver high customer/patient satisfaction.
- Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Utah only:
If certified with less than one year of MA experience, may attend a one‑year MA residency program.
- Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
- Computer literacy with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Current national MA certification (RMA, NCMA, CCMA, CMA).
- Ability to see, read, and assess information and patients, and operate monitors.
- Verbal communication and auditory comprehension during routine and emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity for manipulating equipment, typing, and medication preparation.
- Capacity to lift, transfer, and move patients, as well as handle supplies up to heavy items.
- Mobility to walk and assist with patient transport and equipment handling.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Driving duties may require safe vehicle operation and navigation skills.
