Patient Care Technician
Job Description
A Medical Assistant has accountability for providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This role involves caring for patients with acute and chronic needs and communicating with patients via telephone and in-person interactions.
Shift Details40 hours per week, full time. Scheduled Monday‑Friday 8:00 am – 5:30 pm.
Unit / LocationIntermountain Medical Center – Neurosciences Institute, Movement Clinic, Murray, Utah.
Responsibilities- Provide patient care under the direction of the clinician, assisting providers in gathering information relevant to patient visits.
- Communicate clearly with patients through telephone and in‑person interactions.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support patient care; maintain attention to detail and follow‑through.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR at least one year of MA work experience OR current active and in‑good‑standing RN/LPN license to practice nursing in Utah.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers, obtained prior to start date.
- Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry.
- Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with patients and caregivers to deliver high patient satisfaction.
- Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and PHI of patients, members, and caregivers.
- If less than one year of MA experience, candidates may attend a year‑long MA residency program (Utah only).
- Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
- Computer literacy in using electronic medical records and other relevant software.
- Current national MA certification from RMA, AMT, NCMA, CCMA, CMA, or AAMA.
- Ability to see, read information, and assess patient needs; operate monitors and identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent verbal communication with providers, patients, and visitors, especially during emergencies.
- Manual dexterity for manipulating equipment, typing for documentation, and administering medications.
- Ability to lift and transfer patients, bend, carry supplies, and navigate crowded rooms.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- For driving roles: ability to drive a vehicle and read traffic signals.
The hourly rate ranges from $19.87 to $28.31, dependent on experience.
