Job Description SummaryThe team member will play a vital role in delivering an efficient and well‑rounded intake experience for patients, referring providers, and others involved with the delivery of care. Option Care Health consistently strives to manage the process of receiving referrals for infusion services and ensuring timely patient care.
Responsibilities- Gather necessary information pertinent for a complete patient intake, such as demographics, insurance information, clinical, lab and medical testing documentation.
- Input accurate information while building and/or updating patient records.
- Review all incoming faxed documents and attach to new or existing patient profile.
- Contact patient or provider to obtain any missing information.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits pertaining to medications and services.
- Manage authorizations – submit and track prior authorization requests.
- Schedule services – arrange appointments in line with order and care plan.
- Maintain records – keep patient records up to date and accurate.
- Communicate – keep patients and referral sources informed about the status of referrals.
- Document all requests and conversations in the patient record to support coordination of care.
- Assist with enrollment – help patients enroll in programs that may offset out‑of‑pocket costs.
- Collect payment – collect patient balances, copays, and/or self‑pay amounts.
- Answer phones – triage calls and involve appropriate team members to best assist questions.
- Train new team members.
- Promote training participation and help team members follow new and existing workflow processes.
- Deliver messages that promote continuous improvement.
- Comply with company best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare related customer service, medical billing and coding, benefits verification, scheduling, or similar responsibilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, providers, and team members.
- Active listening skills.
- Ability to make decisions, solve problems, and work independently.
- Proven ability to identify gaps and problems, determine lasting solutions, and initiate necessary action.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with other intake specialists, clinicians, and team members.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multi‑task.
- Basic computer proficiency.
Pay Range is $16.61‑$26.96 per hour, determined by education, experience, skills, and market data.
