Job Description
The Patient Service Representative (PSR) is the first point of contact between Intermountain Health and patients. The PSR represents Intermountain values and establishes collaborative relationships with patients and caregivers to deliver a high level of customer and patient satisfaction. The PSR ensures a superior customer experience by identifying and resolving patient needs related to patient intake and care, including greeting and checking-in/out patients, and verifying information supplied by patients.

Full‑time, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:15 am – 4:45 pm
- Provide courteous and professional connections with patients over the phone, in person, or via secure messaging.
- Document all phone calls accurately and completely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Schedule patient appointments for visits, procedures, diagnostic tests, referrals, and/or consultations.
- Register patients over the phone or in person by confirming, entering, and/or updating all required demographic data on the registration system.
- Obtain copies of insurance cards, forms of , and signatures on all required forms, and verify insurance coordination of benefits (including pre‑certification/prior authorization when necessary).
- Assist patients in completing necessary forms to meet regulatory and billing needs, scan required paperwork, and educate patients on financial assistance.
- Proactively request payments from patients on current and past medical services and process those payments following appropriate procedures.
- Stay current on role responsibilities and updates by reviewing monthly communications, dashboards, and clinic meetings to ensure the highest standard of performance.
- Six months of customer service experience involving interactions with customers.
- Basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry.
- Professional manner with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with patients and caregivers to deliver high customer/patient satisfaction.
- Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and protected health information (PHI) of patients, members, and caregivers.
- One year of customer service experience involving interactions with customers in person and by phone.
- Billing and collections experience.
- Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Multilingual skills.
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and assess customer needs.
- Frequent verbal communication with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex supplies and equipment.
- Position may require standing for long periods, lifting supplies, and assisting patients in and out of the clinic.

Hours & Compensation40 hours per week. Hourly range: $17.86 – $23.22 depending on experience.
