Job Profile Summary
Perform and respond to non-invasive cardiac EKG diagnostic tests on patients (inpatient and outpatient). Provide quality handling of test data, assist physicians in accurate testing, work with allied medical professionals, networked Intermountain Healthcare facilities, and physicians to deliver quality EKGs.
Essential Functions- Perform exams per department protocol and demonstrate EKG competency.
- Complete studies within accepted time limits without compromising patient care or exam quality.
- Complete orders and charge entry timely and accurately.
- Maintain working knowledge of department equipment, perform routine maintenance, clean, and report any variance that may impact function.
- Respond immediately to calls as appropriate by facility.
- Notify physician if critical values are identified during the test, per Critical Value Policy.
- Ensure proper patient identification using two identifiers and review patient chart to confirm correct procedure order before performing.
- Provide patient education as needed and ensure patient comfort.
- Administer all tests within the EKG Lab—including Holter, ambulatory telemetry/event monitors, blood pressure monitor, stress testing, and EKGs.
- Provide technical assistance and monitor all exercise treadmill studies as appropriate by facility.
- Maintain records and logs required by the department, Joint Commission, and other accrediting entities.
- Current BLS certification for healthcare providers.
- Complete and pass the Intermountain Healthcare EKG course and associated skills within four months of hire (or at first class offered after hire date).
- Prior patient care or customer service experience.
- Prior EKG technical or interpretation experience.
- Physical requirements:
hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, sitting, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, and walking.
Nights, Full time, 36 hours per week.
LocationIntermountain Medical Center, Murray, Utah.
Compensation$17.14 per hour (actual rate depends on experience).
