Job SummaryThe Respiratory Therapist will assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders and cardiopulmonary conditions. This role involves administering respiratory treatments, managing ventilators, and working closely with physicians and nursing staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic tests to assess lung capacity and gas exchange
- Administer breathing treatments, including oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, and aerosol medications
- Manage and monitor mechanical ventilators for patients requiring respiratory support
- Perform airway management, including suctioning and tracheostomy care
- Monitor patient response to respiratory treatments and adjust care plans as needed
- Educate patients and families on respiratory equipment and home care techniques
- Document patient care accurately in the medical record
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members on patient care plans
- Respond to emergency situations, including CPR and airway emergencies
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Current Utah Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Prior experience in an acute care or long-term acute care setting preferred
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills
