Bear River Mutual Insurance is seeking an experienced Auto Liability Claims Team Manager to oversee Personal Lines Auto claims. This role manages the full claim lifecycle, including investigation, coverage analysis, strategic decision‑making, and cost‑effective resolution across multiple jurisdictions. The person in this role is expected to influence claim outcomes through sound judgment, ownership, and leadership at every stage while delivering best in class customer service.

Type: Full Time/ Exempt/In-Office

Location: Murray, UT

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required.
  • At least five years of claims handling experience with progressively greater responsibility preferred.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a claims environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of auto claims handling practices and coverage analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and influence others.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong critical thinking and sound decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to manage conflict and negotiate effectively while maintaining strong relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and claims systems.
  • A professional designation, or progress toward one, is a plus.
  • This is an in‑office role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop auto claims representatives at all experience levels.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly, responding promptly, and resolving issues professionally.
  • Provide regular feedback, mentoring, and performance support to drive team success.
  • Review open and closed claims for compliance with company policies, regulations, and service standards.
  • Guide staff through claim investigation, evaluation, and resolution to achieve fair, timely outcomes.
  • Oversee claim reserve setup and accuracy to support sound financial results.
  • Assist with complex, high‑value, or sensitive claims as needed.
  • Manage vendor use to ensure quality service and cost‑effective results.
  • Maintain accurate, complete documentation in the claims system.
  • Partner with Underwriting, Loss Control, and Marketing to support shared goals.
  • Serve as the team’s technical resource on coverage, claim strategy, and decision‑making.
  • Build strong agent relationships to support a positive customer experience.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.
  • Support department initiatives, projects, and continuous improvement efforts.
