Position: Tool Technician / Shop Technician

KMAX Inspection is seeking a motivated Part-Time Shop Technician to help maintain, refurbish, and prepare advanced inline inspection (ILI) tools used to inspect critical pipeline infrastructure.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, staying organized, and learning how complex mechanical and electronic systems operate. You’ll work directly with advanced inspection technology that combines mechanical systems, electronics, sensors, manufacturing, and proprietary software used to help prevent pipeline failures and protect critical infrastructure.

Primary responsibilities involve tool maintenance, refurbishment, inspection support, and shop operations. As your skills develop, you’ll gain exposure to multiple technical disciplines with the opportunity to grow into a full-time technician role based on performance and company needs.

Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities
  • Clean, inspect, and refurbish inline inspection tools returning from the field
  • Disassemble and reassemble tool components for maintenance and inspection
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
  • Support inventory organization and part tracking
  • Assist with packing and preparing tools for shipment
  • Follow shop procedures and quality standards
  • Identify and communicate maintenance or tooling issues
Qualifications Requirements
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and light power tools
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to recheck work for quality
  • Able to identify work that needs to be done and follow through with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable working around industrial magnetic systems and electronic equipment
  • Ability to stay organized and maintain cleanliness standards
  • Comfortable standing, bending, and working with tools throughout the day
  • Ability to lift and move equipment/components up to 50 lbs
  • Able to meet deadlines and follow procedures
  • Dependable, punctual, and safety-minded
Preferred Experience
  • High school diploma required (Associate degree preferred)
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands‑on skills
  • Basic understanding of electronic components is a plus
  • Welding experience is a plus
  • Experience working in a shop, manufacturing, automotive, fabrication, or technical environment is helpful but not required
