Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.

Strategically located in the heart of the Salt Lake Valley, Intermountain Medical Center opened in 2007 after a decade of planning to replace aging facilities and expand care capabilities. Today, it serves as a Level I Trauma Center and a central hub for advanced healthcare, offering access to a wide range of specialties and cutting‑edge resources.

Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care in departments such as Women’s Services, Labor & Delivery, Acute Care, and Intensive Care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
- Adapt quickly to different clinical environments, patient populations, and unit needs.
- Cross‑train across multiple specialties (with potential for additional financial incentives).
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation to support patient outcomes and team communication.
- Current RN license in the state of Utah (or compact license).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- RNs with less than 12 months of RN experience must obtain a BSN within 5 years of their start date.
- Previous experience in acute care, critical care, or women’s services.
- 2 years acute RN experience preferred.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
- RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of the job description's last update on 4/27/2025. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements that were in place at the time of their promotion or hire.

Intermountain Medical Center – Murray, Utah and other Intermountain Health facilities (Alta View, LDS, Park City, Riverton). - Shift Details:
Full‑time, variable shifts or straight nights (shift differential available). - Schedule:
Flexible holiday staffing and varied weekend requirements. - Compensation:
Includes a 10% Float Pool differential and potential cross‑training incentives. Hourly range $35.22 - $53.29 (actual hourly rate depends on experience). - Relocation Assistance:
May be available for qualified external candidates.
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors requiring verbal communication, hearing, and rapid understanding of alarms and issues during emergencies.
- Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation and medication preparation.
- Expected to lift, carry, and transfer patients, often carrying supplies up to heavy items.
- Ability to walk, assist with transporting patients, and maneuver gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
- May be required to stand for extended periods.
