Job Description
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) functions as a clinical support partner, assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. The PCT may also assume the responsibilities of a Health Unit Coordinator.
Key Responsibilities- Prioritize and deliver basic patient care, including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, providing fresh water and ice, ambulating, and other comfort measures.
- Respond to patient and family requests with excellent customer service.
- Report and record patient care findings and data in a timely manner.
- Notify and secure qualified assistance promptly when patient condition changes.
- Perform telemetry duties as required and monitor patients for safe care.
- Transport medications from the delivery system to the RN as required.
- Collaborate with the RN and interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care.
- Assume Health Unit Coordinator duties: answer phones, transcribe physician orders, manage unit records, organize and maintain supplies.
- Implement plan of care as delegated and perform duties within scope of practice.
- Perform specialized procedures with skill validation and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain a safe environment by following the safety policy and responding appropriately during emergencies.
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Utah candidates must hold valid CNA certification, renewed within 120 days of hire, and demonstrate completion of a recent CNA training program or Fundamentals of Nursing course within the past two years.
- Prior CNA or healthcare experience.
- Current enrollment in a nursing school program.
- Read and identify labels, assess patient needs, and operate monitors.
- Acquire, lift, bend, carry, push or pull supplies weighing up to heavy items.
- Sustain stationary positions for extended periods.
- Operate vehicle if the specific role requires driving.
- Medical, dental, vision, and education assistance.
- Shift differentials for evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Comprehensive wellness program supporting mind, body, and spirit.
Full‑time night shift, with some weekend and holiday coverage. Scheduled weekly hours: 36.
