Nursing Graduate – Intermountain Health
Reporting under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in a clinical setting, the Nursing Graduate participates in patient care, including observation, data collection, and documentation, under RN guidance. The position is designed for up to 12 weeks of clinical experience for individuals enrolled in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program. Completion of the RN license is required to continue in this role.
EssentialFunctions
- Demonstrates understanding of the nursing process and how patient plans of care are developed, implemented, and revised to meet patient needs.
- Collects patient data (e.g., vital signs) under RN supervision and reports significant changes in patient condition.
- Completes accurate documentation under RN supervision.
- Observes and discusses with the RN the prioritization of patient needs and the development and modification of interdisciplinary care plans.
- Observes patient plan implementation, considering the specialized needs of patients such as physical, emotional, social, age, ethnic origin, and other factors.
- Reports patient responses to treatments and collaborates with the RN regarding changes needed to modify nursing interventions.
- Participates in patient/family education needs under RN supervision.
- Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for patient care delivery within the defined role.
- Recognizes and demonstrates legal/ethical implications of care delivery and complies with regulatory standards, completing accurate documentation and maintaining confidentiality.
- Achieves RN licensure in a timely manner per Intermountain Health standards and expectations, completing orientation and training requirements, including successful progression through the Nursing Residency program.
- Successful completion of a recognized and accredited nursing (RN) education program (education verified).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent verbal communication and listening skills, especially during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity and precision to manipulate complex equipment.
- Frequent computer use and typing for documentation and medication preparation.
- Ability to lift, transfer, and move patients, including bending, carrying supplies, pushing or pulling gurneys, and navigating crowded rooms.
- For roles requiring driving, ability to sit, see, and read signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
Intermountain Medical Center – Murray, Utah. Shift: Night. Scheduled weekly hours: 36. Hourly rate: $32.27 per hour. (New Graduate RN rate $35.22).
