Registered Nurse Operating Room

Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process through technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination of care with other health team members. This role offers hands-on OR experience within a surgical team and opportunities for collaboration and professional growth.

• Assess physical, social, and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative, and developmental aspects as appropriate).
• Plan and develop individualized plans of care using assessment information and critical thinking; involve patient, family, and team members in education and care planning.
• Implement care by directing the interdisciplinary team, delegating tasks as appropriate, and coordinating resources to meet the plan of care while maintaining compliance with guidelines and licensure requirements.
• Evaluate patient responses to interventions by reviewing goals and outcomes, and revise the plan of care as needed; reassess changes accordingly.
• Demonstrate professionalism by integrating legal and ethical standards, maintaining regulatory compliance, ensuring timely documentation, and understanding legal implications of care delivery.
• Engage with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration for safe, high-quality patient care.

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of hire.
• BSN required within four years of hire if not already held;
  Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution; degree will be verified.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
• One year or more of OR RN experience preferred; OR scrub experience considered.

• One year or more of OR RN experience or OR Scrub Tech experience with RN qualifications.

Ongoing ability to see and read information, operate monitors, and identify equipment; frequent verbal communication with patients, families, and staff; manual dexterity for handling complex equipment; ability to lift and transfer patients and equipment; standing or mobility for extended periods; ability to drive if required by the role.

Location:

Intermountain Health, Intermountain Medical Center, Murray, Utah.

Schedule:

40 hours per week. Orientation Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM; after orientation, transition to a dedicated evening and weekend schedule. Weekday shifts typically 3:00 PM–11:00 PM; weekend shifts may include 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, or 3:00 PM–11:00 PM. On-call responsibilities begin after orientation; call requirements vary by department and may evolve with staffing needs.
