Job Description

The Aviation Compliance Manager ensures that all Part 135 operations adhere to FAA requirements, maintains, updates the General Operations Manual, and share the operational control responsibilities with the Director of Operations. In addition, it manages special projects assigned by the Director of Operations, supporting a safe, efficient, and fully compliant aviation environment. By overseeing daily flight activities, coordinating resources, and promoting a culture of safety and regulatory adherence, the Aviation Operations Manager helps maintain the highest standards of efficiency and compliance across the organization.

Functions
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with FAA regulations and company policies for Part 135 operations.
  • Regularly review, update, and revise the General Operations Manual (GOM) to reflect current regulations and industry best practices.
  • Distribute all changes and updates to pilots, ensuring timely communication and confirmation of receipt.
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections to verify regulatory adherence and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations to establish and refine safety, efficiency, and compliance procedures.
  • Investigate compliance issues, recommend corrective actions, and implement preventative measures.
  • Coordinate with training departments to ensure pilot training materials and syllabi meet or exceed regulatory standards.
  • Manage special projects assigned by the Director of Operations, overseeing their completion within set timelines.
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies, preparing documentation and responding to compliance-related inquiries.
  • Maintain organized records and reports, ensuring all documentation required by the FAA is accurate and readily accessible.

Minimum Qualifications
  • FAA

    Certifications:
    • Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating or an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate; appropriate category and class ratings
    • Current FAA Second-Class or First-Class (for turbo-jet assignments) Medical Certificate
  • Flight Experience for VFR Program and IFR Program:
    • Rotor Wing – VFR / IFR 2,500 hours of total flight time in a helicopter
    • Fixed Wing – VFR / IFR 2,500 hours of total flight time
    • VFR / IFR 100 hours of unaided night flight time
    • VFR 100 hours of cross-country flight – 25 hours at night
    • IFR 500 hours of cross-country flight – 100 hours at night
    • IFR 75 actual or simulated instrument hours (50 must be in actual flight)
  • Other
    • Fixed Wing: VFR / IFR;
      Pass a 135.293 / 135.297 check ride within the first 60 days of hire
    • Rotor Wing
      • VFR – pass a 135.293 check ride within the first 60 days of hire
      • IFR – pass a 135.297 instrument proficiency ride within 12 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications

  • Fixed wing
    • Instrument time – 300 hours (actual 100 hours)
    • Night-time – 200 hours
    • Multi-engine time – 1,000 hours
    • Turbine-engine time – 500 hours
  • Rotor wing
    • Night Vision Goggle experience
    • 300 flight hours at night
    • Actual Instrument time for IFR assignment – 100 hours
    • Turbine-engine time – 500 hours
  • Live within one hour of assigned base
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods in an aircraft cockpit
  • Capability to perform pre-flight and post-flight inspections, which may involve climbing, kneeling, crouching, or stooping
  • Must meet FAA medical standards for physical and mental fitness, as verified by a current FAA Medical Certificate
  • Meet Intermountain Health standards for annual hearing tests
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, as required for handling equipment or luggage.
  • Tolerance for varying environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, and noise during aircraft operations
  • Meet current weight restrictions established by the company

$58.62 - $90.48 (actual hourly rate dependent upon experience)
