Responsibilities
SUMMARY:
Responsible for day-to-day operations to ensure the effective and efficient operation for assigned clinical areas, to include Patient Care and Nursing Services. May assume management-level control in absence of the Director. Interprets and supports the philosophies and policies of RMC. Provides and monitors safe, cost effective patient care in accordance with LVN scope of practice and adhere to the organizational nursing policies and procedures.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate of accredited school of License Vocational Nursing program required. Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two to three year’s related experience and/or training preferred. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Minimum one (1) year ambulatory care experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
Current California LVN license, current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association, ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association, and IV Certification required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assign duties and examine work for accuracy, timeliness, and conformance to department standards.
- Orient and train new employees. Maintain and develop skill levels of current employees. Provide written and oral instruction.
- Identify problem areas such as understaffing, customer complaints, and inefficiencies. Take corrective action as needed.
- Model, maintain, and promote customer service skills and standards.
- Facilitate communication from personnel to the Manager/ Director and Administration. Conduct monthly staff meetings.
- Coach, evaluate, and recognize staff. Initiate disciplinary action when necessary.
- Establish work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow.
- Direct and assist staff in conflict resolution and act as an information resource.
- Monitor use of supplies and equipment for inventory control to avoid waste. Order supplies as needed.
- Perform or assist subordinates in performing duties.
- Maintain employee attendance records. Verify employee time sheets, and submit time sheets to payroll.
- Responsible for all personnel related duties: counseling, interviewing, hiring, and termination, as needed.
- Ensures all expired sample medication and/ or patient supplies are discarded upon expiration.
- Maintains License Vocational Nurse licensure, IV Certification, ACLS and BLS Certification.
