Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level 3 NICU position requiring 2 years of NICU Level 3+ experience and a California RN license.

Details
  • Work in a Level 3 NICU within a Children's Hospital that is also a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching facility
  • 13-bed unit with an average daily census of 9-10 patients
  • Cares for neonates greater than 34 weeks and 29-34 weeks gestational age
  • Variable Day/Night 3x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:00 or 19:00-7:00)
  • Requires every other weekend
  • Occasional on-call requirement
  • Float required to satellite locations including Rady Main Campus, Scripps Encinitas, Scripps Mercy, Scripps La Jolla, and Palomar with advance notice given prior to shift
  • Mid-shift floating required on an infrequent basis
  • Remains within NICU scope and does not float to other units within the home facility
  • Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
  • Active CA RN license required (in hand, or ETA from licensing board required for submission)
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU Level 3 or higher experience required
  • Experience attending high-risk deliveries required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy including starting and maintaining IVs
  • Experience with UAC (Umbilical Artery Catheter) and UVC (Umbilical Vein Catheter)
  • Ventilator management experience (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
  • Community hospital experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide direct neonatal intensive care to a critical patient population
  • Maximum RTO of 6 days; must still work a minimum of 3 shifts per week
  • Required to work 2 of the following 3 holidays (including Eves):
    Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
  • Scrubs of any color are accepted
  • Free traveler parking is provided
  • Mileage reimbursement offered for travel to float locations other than the home base facility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • Former permanent staff must be separated from employment for at least 1 year before becoming eligible to travel
  • Clinicians who are do-not-return (DNR) status with Children's Hospital of Orange County will not be considered due to health system merger
  • Travelers who reach their one-year mark at this health system must wait 90 days before returning in a travel role
