The Facilities Maintenance Technician should possess the necessary skills to carry out a range of building maintenance routines and tasks. This technician will report directly to the Facilities Director and be responsible for performing tasks in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, landscaping, carpentry, occasional janitorial duties, and more as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities- Campus inspection of buildings, grounds, plumbing, electrical systems, and equipment to ensure a well, safe, maintained environment, identifying hazards, and defects.
- Performing minor repairs, and able to troubleshoot, light fixtures, ballast, fuses, replacement of light bulbs
- Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting on the HVAC systems. Annual and Semi
- Annual Preventive Maintenance Program - Complete maintenance service tickets as assigned and in a timely manner
- Identify and perform basic service and repairs on plumbing fixtures and leaks, unclog toilets and drain lines
- Identify and assist with carpentry and repair work
- Operation of a variety of machinery, both hand and power equipment, including saws, drills, and various tools
- Inspection and service of door hardware (locks and closures) and doors operational functionality
- Installation of outlets and light switches
- Assist with loading, unloading, storing of supplies, moving furniture, and equipment.
- Wearing proper safety protective equipment while performing job duties (i.e., goggles, helmet, back brace, knee pads)
- Adjustment of hours and/or weekend work may be required and/or occasional overtime
- Communicate effectively in a professional, tactful, and courteous manner with students, staff, and the public
- Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision
- Thorough knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures while using chemicals, power tools, hand tools and equipment
- Knowledge of proper lifting techniques
- Ability to operate equipment
- Understanding of methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in maintenance, repair, and electrical work
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions
- Ability to perform work independently
Required to stand, walk, use of faculties to control/handle equipment and attention to your surroundings. Occasionally required to sit, climbs ladders, squat, stoop, kneel, reach forward and above your head. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (with assistance).
