Senior Associate - Investment Development

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible of the investment development efforts across selected sectors within OIA's Economic Diversification Investment unit. The role contributes to the origination, assessment, structuring, and execution of investment opportunities aligned with national priorities. The role assumes accountability over a specific sectoral or thematic portfolio and leads initiatives across the full investment lifecycle — from opportunity identification to execution and handover

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the development and execution of investment strategies and roadmaps across assigned sectors in alignment with OIA NDF strategy.
  • Contribute to sectoral analyses and investment planning aligned with national diversification goals.
  • Ensure sector strategies are underpinned by sound investment theses and informed by market intelligence
  • Support investment origination and opportunity development within assigned sectors.
  • Drive feasibility assessment, concept structuring, and business case development.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder coordination for progressing projects toward FID.
  • Engage advisors, potential partners, and OIA companies to evaluate and negotiate investment opportunities.
  • Conduct market mapping, sector research and benchmarking to identify investment themes and opportunities aligned with national and OIA priorities.
  • Manage due diligence processes for proposed opportunities.
  • Prepare and present investment materials for internal approval processes.
  • conduct execution processes including project setup, internal coordination, and tracking milestones.
  • Maintain momentum through execution and ensure smooth handover to the AM team post-SGR
  • Support alignment with regulatory, legal, and technical teams to ensure project readiness.
  • Support identification of funding needs and capital structuring options.
  • Coordinate with internal finance and external capital providers.
  • Maintain sector awareness and contribute to benchmarking and market insights.
  • Maintain high awareness of sectoral developments and emerging trends through regular engagement with industry stakeholders, policy-makers, and regulators.
  • Proactively engage with market experts and internal research teams to ensure data-driven sector decisions and foresight.
  • Collaborate closely with OIA portfolio companies on pipeline opportunity development and execution.
  • Provide strategic input to feasibility studies, business plans, and alignment on investment criteria.
  • Support execution of initiatives emerging from company and OIA strategies.
  • Contribute to portfolio reviews, strategic assessments, and ad-hoc investment analysis as required.
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders, sector regulators, and ecosystem partners.
  • Ensure documentation, presentation materials, and approvals meet internal governance standards.
  • Prepare and present sector updates, progress reports, and investment progress to related stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with other functions (e.g., AM, legal, finance) to ensure seamless workflow.
  • Ensure timely execution of deliverables across projects.
  • Apply consistent project governance tools, trackers, and reporting frameworks.
  • Track KPIs relevant to assigned sectoral responsibilities.
  • Provide input for MIS dashboards, scorecards, and management reviews.
  • Ensure alignment with OIA governance, compliance frameworks, and approval protocols.
  • Adhere to policies and contribute to their ongoing improvement.
  • Identify and implement improvements to project workflows, tools, and team processes.
  • Encourage innovation and data-driven decision-making within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
  • Comply with health and safety standards and contribute to the creation of a high-performance work environment.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Achieve investment targets in line with OIA overall targets for the focus sectors.
  • Number and value of opportunities progressed to FID.
  • Quality and completeness of business cases and IC submissions.
  • Execution cycle time and milestone tracking.
  • Capital raised (internal or co-funding) for approved projects.
  • Sector alignment and contribution to diversification targets.
  • Team support and development of junior team members
  • Stakeholder satisfaction and alignment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or any other relevant field
  • Master’s degree is desirable
  • Preferable CFA, CMA, CPA, FMVA, FRM
  • 8 to 11 years of related work experience
  • Fluency in English
  • Proficiency in MS Office is must
  • Experience with business related software is desirable
