Job Purpose:

The Deputy Manager - Remedial & SAM is responsible for proactively managing the Bank's classified, watchlist, and overdue corporate portfolio to minimize credit losses, maximize recoveries, and preserve asset quality. The role focuses on early identification of problem accounts, formulation and execution of remedial strategies, restructuring of distressed financing facilities, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal recovery outcomes while ensuring compliance with regulatory and Shariah requirements.

Main Tasks & Accountabilities:

  • Manage and monitor the Bank's classified, watchlist, and overdue Corporate Banking portfolio.
  • Identify early warning signals and recommend timely remedial actions to prevent deterioration of asset quality.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor clients' financial performance and industry developments that may impact repayment capacity.
  • Develop and implement turnaround, restructuring, and recovery strategies for distressed accounts.
  • Lead negotiations with customers, sponsors, guarantors, and other stakeholders to achieve sustainable repayment solutions.
  • Recommend restructuring, rescheduling, settlements, or legal recovery actions based on commercial viability.
  • Maximize recoveries while minimizing impairment and credit losses.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Risk, Finance, and Shariah departments throughout the recovery process.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit proposals relating to restructuring, provisioning, settlements, write-offs, and recovery strategies.
  • Ensure timely classification and provisioning in accordance with regulatory requirements and the Bank's credit policies.
  • Monitor covenant compliance and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Support the Bank in maintaining a healthy corporate financing portfolio
  • Liaise with Relationship Managers to facilitate early intervention in potentially stressed accounts.
  • Engage with external legal counsel, receivers, liquidators, valuers, auditors, and consultants where required.
  • Maintain effective relationships with regulators and external stakeholders on matters relating to classified accounts.

Education:

  • Minimum:
    Undergraduate degree
  • Preferred: MBA/ CFA / CA or equivalent finance qualification

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 1O+ years of experience in corporate banking

General

Competencies:

  • Proven track record in Special Assets management and restructuring of financing facilities.
  • Strong understanding of industry dynamics and risk framework.
