The Senior Fund Manager - Private Markets & Real Assets is a senior investment professional responsible for originating, underwriting, structuring and monitoring investments in private markets, including real estate, infrastructure, private credit, private equity and other alternative strategies. The role combines transaction execution with portfolio-management discipline: building a credible pipeline, conducting rigorous due diligence, preparing investment recommendations, and monitoring assets and fund managers after investment.
The incumbent will have a principal focus in one or more private-market disciplines while bringing a multi-asset perspective and supporting broader Asset Management initiatives. The role operates within approved mandates, governance and delegated limits, rather than as a department-head or standalone approval authority.
- Identify, screen and develop private-market opportunities through relationships with sponsors, developers, asset managers, advisers and institutional counter parties.
- Maintain a disciplined opportunity pipeline aligned with approved strategy, target returns, liquidity parameters and risk appetite.
- Lead or coordinate underwriting, including financial modelling, valuation, sensitivity analysis, commercial assessment and return attribution.
- Coordinate legal, financial, tax, technical, operational and ESG due diligence, identifying key risks, mitigants and investment conditions.
- Fund, Transaction & Product Structuring
- Support structuring of private-market funds, co-investments, separate accounts and investment vehicles suited to client and market requirements.
- Review financial terms, governance rights, fees, liquidity provisions, covenants and transaction documentation alongside relevant control functions.
- Investment Execution & Governance
- Prepare decision-ready investment papers covering the opportunity, valuation, downside risks, structure and recommendation.
- Coordinate approved transactions through conditions precedent, documentation, funding, closing deliverables and stakeholder communication.
- Monitor portfolio companies, real assets, fund managers and underlying projects against investment cases, valuations, liquidity and milestones.
- Review investor reports, capital calls, distributions and material events; recommend action where performance or risk deviates.
- Risk, Regulatory & Documentation Discipline
- Operate in accordance with internal investment policies, regulatory requirements and approved investment guidelines.
- Maintain complete, audit-ready investment files, valuation support and monitoring documentation.
- Private Markets Investment Management & Governance
- Manage assigned private market investment opportunities and portfolio investments throughout the investment lifecycle, including screening, evaluation, due diligence, execution, and ongoing monitoring, in accordance with delegated authority, investment policies, and approved mandates.
- Monitor investment performance, valuation movements, covenant compliance, and governance matters, ensuring timely identification and assessment of emerging risks and opportunities.
- Escalate material valuation changes, covenant breaches, governance concerns, investments outside approved mandates, and significant risk-related matters to the Head of Asset Management and relevant governance committees for review and decision-making.
- Multi-Asset, Client & Stakeholder Support
- Provide private-market and real-asset insight to wider multi-asset portfolio construction, strategic asset allocation and manager-selection work.
- Capability Development & Process Improvement
- Mentor junior investment professionals and improve investment models and monitoring.
