We are conducting a confidential executive search for a seasoned General Manager on behalf of a leading building materials and construction supply organisation based in Oman. This role will lead commercial performance, operational excellence, and strategic growth across multiple business channels, including domestic distribution, project supply, logistics, and supply chain operations.

Role OverviewThe General Manager will be responsible for overall leadership of the business, driving profitability, enhancing operational capabilities, and ensuring high-performance execution across all functional areas. The role reports directly to the Board of Directors/owners and requires a hands-on leader with a strong track record in trading, distribution, and supply chain management in the construction materials sector.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and implement the company’s strategic business plan
- Oversee all day-to-day operations including procurement, sales, logistics, finance, and customer service
- Develop and execute commercial strategies to grow revenue and market share
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and key clients
- Ensure operational efficiency across inventory, warehousing, and distribution
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimisation
- Strengthen internal processes, controls, and performance reporting
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
- Represent the business with partners, government agencies, and industry stakeholders
- Present regular performance reports and strategic recommendations to the Board
Experience & Skills
- 10+ years senior leadership experience in building materials, trading, distribution, construction supply or related industries
- Proven record of managing P&L, driving commercial results, and scaling business operations
- Strong understanding of supply chain, logistics, and inventory management
- Commercial negotiation and relationship management experience with suppliers and clients
- Experience in Oman / GCC markets preferred
- Comfortable operating in dynamic and competitive environments
- Strong strategic planner with execution discipline
- Results-oriented with analytical decision-making capability
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Team player with high integrity and ethical standards
- Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related)
- MBA or advanced qualification preferred
- Commercially savvy and customer focused
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong business planning and organisational skills
