Our client is a prominent player in the automotive sector, currently embarking on a large-scale strategic initiative to establish and scale CKD (Completely Knocked Down) Assembly Plants across the region. We are seeking a seasoned Projects Director to spearhead the end-to-end strategic planning, execution, and operational stabilization of these high-value manufacturing projects.
This role requires a transformational leader who can bridge corporate strategy with on-site assembly operations, managing the transition from greenfield development to full-scale mass production.
The Role:Key Focus Areas
- Turnkey Project Strategy:
Lead the planning and execution of CKD assembly projects, including plant layout design, equipment installation, commissioning, and mass production trial runs. - Operational Leadership:
Provide strategic oversight for multiple project managers and engineering teams across Body Shop, Paint Shop, and Trim & Chassis assembly lines. - Commercial & Financial Control:
Full accountability for multi-million dollar project budgets, implementing rigorous financial controls, and ensuring optimized Capex and Opex forecasting. - Technical & CKD Coordination:
Manage the technical Engineering Change Management (ECM) process, ensuring alignment between global kit suppliers and local assembly line modifications. - Supply Chain & Logistics Optimization:
Oversee the complex import and warehousing of CKD kits, optimizing inventory management and logistics costs to ensure seamless production flow. - Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement:
Act as the primary liaison with global Principals, vendors, and government authorities to ensure full compliance with ISO standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Industry
Experience:
20–25 years of heavyweight experience in the automobile industry, with a specific and proven track record in leading large-scale CKD/SKD assembly projects. - Technical Mastery:
Deep functional knowledge of OEM production processes, including PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection), Lean manufacturing, and quality assurance protocols. - Project Management Expertise:
Mastery of project management methodologies (MS Project, Primavera, or Jira) with the ability to manage complex interdependencies and high-level risk mitigation. - Financial Acumen:
Strong understanding of corporate and project finance, with the ability to present executive briefings and financial reports to Senior Management and the Board. - Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering. A Master’s in Engineering Management or an MBA is highly preferred. - Regional Mobility:
Must be willing to lead the initial phase in Muscat, Oman, with a subsequent transition to Algeria as the project scales. - Strategic Execution:
The ability to translate high-level management goals into actionable, milestone-driven project plans. - Crisis Management: A calm and credible approach to solving technical roadblocks and supply chain disruptions under high-pressure timelines.
