Our client is a highly renowned and established Insurance Services Provider in the Sultanate of Oman. We are seeking a high-caliber General Manager to take full ownership of the commercial and operational performance of the business. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidate will lead a diverse team to drive sustainable growth, optimize service delivery, and maintain the group’s high standards of excellence.
The Role:Key Focus Areas
Strategic Leadership: Direct the day-to-day operations and shape the long-term business strategy to maximize year-on-year performance within the Omani market.
Commercial & P&L Accountability: Develop and achieve annual budgets, ensuring robust financial performance, healthy cash flow, and cost rationalization across all departments.
Operational Synergy: Oversee and integrate functional divisions—including Medical, Motor, Property, and Contract Insurance—alongside Finance, IT, and Support functions.
Client & Principal Relations: Act as a lead negotiator with insurance companies to secure optimal terms for clients, while fostering strategic partnerships with key local stakeholders and government officials.
Digital Innovation: Drive the adoption of the firm’s retail application to mobilize business and champion automation and innovation throughout the organization.
Human Capital Development: Lead staff recruitment, performance management, and professional development to ensure a high-performing, motivated, and retained workforce.
Candidate RequirementsInsurance Domain Expertise: 15+ years of experience within the Insurance/Reinsurance sector, with a profound understanding of claims settlement, local Omani insurance laws, and technical underwriting principles.
Executive Leadership: A proven track record in a General Management or Senior Commercial role, ideally within the GCC, managing large multi-functional teams.
Techno-Commercial Acumen: Strong ability to link operational activities to financial outcomes, with expertise in budget management, debt collection, and working capital optimization.
Negotiation Excellence: Demonstrated success in major negotiations on behalf of corporate clients to secure best-in-market insurance solutions and cost savings.
Strategic BD & Brand Management: Experience in originated strategic business development initiatives, brand positioning, and networking at a senior level with corporate decision-makers.
Education: A professional degree in Insurance (ACII or equivalent) or a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) is preferred.
