Discipline Head – Materials, Corrosion & Integrity (MCI)

Reports to:

Engineering Director/Managing Director

• Manage the department and develop it at strategic, tactical, and operational levels.
• Acquire new commissions based on the Balanced Score Card / Operational Plan and with Board approval.
• Act as MCI Head and Technical Authority, fostering local talent development.

• Formulate an annual BSC and/or OP for approval and ensure its realization.
• Prepare and adjust capacity utilisation plans, ensuring the highest possible utilisation rate.
• Acquire new commissions, replenish the order portfolio, and extend the company’s reputation.
• Report to the Engineering/Technical Director on capacity utilisation, work in progress, financial and operational situation.
• Foster Omani talent development, review coaching and mentoring plans.
• Develop Technical Authority levels 3 and 2 within the department.
• Manage the department in line with the HR policy to achieve appropriate staffing levels.

• Take responsibility for quality, safety, health, well‑being and environment within the department and its projects.
• Implement and maintain the Quality and HSE Management System in compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 29001:2020, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.
• Understand and ensure contract quality management requirements are met in design activities.
• Ensure HSE matters are given due consideration in project design and engineering.
• Create a culture of continuous improvement in operations in line with ISO standards.

• Ensure adherence to work ethics and company internal control systems within the staff group.

• Serve as Technical Authority (TA/1 or DA1) for the discipline.
• Coordinate and communicate working methods and production to staff, ensuring compliance with internal and external quality guidelines.
• Assure technical quality within the department.

• Education:
  
  Master’s or Engineering Degree in Metallurgical/Materials/Corrosion Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Level: Holds Technical Authority level 2 or above and is a Chartered Member of a professional institute.
• Experience:
  
  More than 15 years in core MCI, including at least 5 years at management level, with extensive experience in multidisciplinary project environments, engineering design (Concept/FEED/Detailed Design) and operations.
• Knowledge of discipline consultancy services.

• Turnover:
  As specified by management.
• Staff: ≤ 25 employees.
