Irrigation System Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on machinery and equipment, including mechanical, electrical, irrigation softwire and networks, submersible pumps, poster pumps, VFD panels, and electrical panels.
• Diagnose equipment, pumps and electrical equipment malfunctions, recommending repairs or replacement as necessary.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems related to pipes, valves, pumps, controllers and other system components.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machinery, pumps, irrigation networks and equipment to avoid breakdowns and downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including parts and materials used and time spent on each job.
• Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assist with the installation and setup of new machinery and equipment.
• Provide support to other departments as needed, including responding to emergency maintenance requests, cleaning, lubricating and performing other routine maintenance work on machinery as required.
• Operate all equipment, hand tools, and power tools as required and authorized.
• Carry out any other activities as and when required by the reporting manager.

• Higher Diploma degree in mechanical, electrical or equivalent (additional professional technical qualifications are an advantage).
• 0-3 years experience in the field.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
