Accounting Assistant

Position description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, part-time, Accounting Assistant to support our insurance agency’s financial operations by performing routine accounting tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with billing and reconciliation processes. This role helps ensure efficient, compliant, and organized financial workflows withing the insurance agency.
Key Responsibilities:- Accounting and Bookkeeping
- Point person for reconciling credit card statements and commission statements
- Assist in reconciling bank statements
- Assist in accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Insurance
- Specific Financial Tasks- Assist with resolving billing discrepancies between the agency, carriers, and clients
- Administration Support
- Assist with preparing documentation for audits and compliance reviews
- Support month-end and quarter-end closing processes
- Assist with basic internal financial inquiries from agents or management
- Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative support
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow regulatory guidelines
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Skills:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks
- Problem-solving mindset with willingness to learn insurance financial workflows
- Type:
Part-time. Around 20 hours per week - Pay Range: $18 to $21 per hour depending on experience.

Lee Agency, Muscatine, IA. Potential hybrid position as well.
