Bus Aide (Special Education) – 2 Positions
Muscatine Community School District is hiring a Bus Aide to work with special education students and provide general supervision. The role may also include other tasks as needed.
Pay & BenefitsHourly wage: $17.93 per hour.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with special education students to provide support and supervision.
- Assist with general student supervision and overall student support.
- Perform other duties as requested to support transportation operations.
- Ensure regular attendance and consistency with students.
- Follow building and bus safety procedures and alarm systems.
- Maintain a positive and supportive environment for students.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bilingual preferred or highly desirable.
- Physical ability to lift and assist students, including those with physical challenges (up to 50 pounds).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer proficiency in relevant software.
- Experience working with challenged students.
- Patience, strong interpersonal and human relations skills.
- Confidentiality of information is critical.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Physical fitness to stand, walk, lift, and manipulate equipment frequently.
- Must genuinely enjoy working with children and be able to handle occasional inappropriate behavior.

Physical DemandsThese demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, kneeling, using hand strength, frequent bending, and occasionally lifting up to 20 feet. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
Working EnvironmentThe position involves indoor and outdoor environments, including classroom and bus areas. The employee may work beyond regular 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. hours when required.
