What We NeedWe are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings team in Muscatine, Iowa! In this role, you will lead the Engineering Center of Excellence at our Highway 61 facility, managing cross‑functional engineering teams focused on three key areas aimed at improving business agility and profitability. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about driving breakthrough change—identifying improvement opportunities, conceptualizing solutions, and implementing new and enhanced processes to boost labor performance, efficiency, and profitability.

- Provide strategic technical decisions and solutions by creating plans, prioritizing, delegating, and managing all engineering activities and deliverables for the facility
- Deliver broad technical leadership by effectively communicating technical information to non‑technical stakeholders
- Lead the development and implementation of Project Management processes within the Highway 61 facility
- Manage, support, and evaluate engineers’ performance, providing coaching and development opportunities
- Oversee project logistics and allocate technical resources to meet business demands
- Identify opportunities to optimize performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost, utilizing metrics to manage and improve outcomes
- Support plant‑level technical escalations
- Conduct process audits and Gemba walks to uncover gaps and improvement opportunities
- Ensure a successful onboarding experience for all engineering team members
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Organizational Leadership, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, including leadership experience
- Proven success implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong ability to influence, communicate, and collaborate across all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change, overcome challenges, and deliver results in a complex environment
