What We Need
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer I to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings Operations team. In this role, you will support manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who is passionate about problem-solving, process improvement, and learning within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You Will Do
- Support manufacturing processes, production flow, assembly methods, and equipment improvements.
- Provide engineering support for day-to-day operational challenges using lean problem-solving tools.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) performance.
- Partner with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to achieve operational goals.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities utilizing lean principles such as RCI, MDI, 5S, and root cause analysis.
- Support process changes, equipment implementations, and project execution activities.
- Collect and analyze data to identify trends and support operational improvements.
- Learn and apply new manufacturing technologies, systems, and engineering tools.
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related engineering field.
- Internship, co-op, manufacturing, or engineering project experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work in a collaborative manufacturing environment.
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Learning new technologies, systems, and manufacturing processes.
- Communicating effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Working independently while knowing when to seek guidance.
- Managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Applying continuous improvement and lean manufacturing concepts.
- Building strong partnerships across Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, IT, Technical Services, and Skilled Trades.
