Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance
HNI Corporation seeks an Advanced Maintenance Technician & Skilled Trades Specialist to keep our high-volume manufacturing operations running safely and efficiently. In this role, you'll perform complex troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems supporting office furniture and hearth product production. You will read blueprints and schematics, diagnose root causes of downtime, and implement lasting fixes while partnering closely with production, engineering, and safety teams.
You'll champion continuous improvement, document work in our CMMS, support equipment upgrades, and help train junior technicians. HNI offers a collaborative, safety-focused environment with strong development opportunities in a stable, industry-leading manufacturer.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production machinery and facility systems
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment issues
- Diagnose root causes of equipment downtime and implement corrective actions
- Install, align, and commission new equipment and production lines
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and safety teams to improve equipment performance
- Document maintenance activities, parts usage, and repair history in a CMMSSupport continuous improvement, 5
- S, and safety initiatives across the facility
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including LOTO and PPE requirements
- Train and mentor junior technicians on equipment and maintenance best practices
