* To plan, organize, and instruct courses in the day, evening, or on weekends on any Northwest-Shoals Community College campus as assigned.

* To keep active at a high level of expertise in the subjects taught and stimulate enthusiasm for those subjects.

* To recommend textbooks and other instructional materials, including classroom and laboratory equipment, to the Division Chairs; (Related functions include participating in the college's library collection development by selecting, evaluating, and weeding library sources in each appropriate discipline.

* To keep students informed about their progress through the prompt grading of papers and other work.

* To conduct class evaluations and complete other college evaluations in accordance with college policy.

* To post and maintain office hours for student consultations.

* To ensure that assigned classes are held as scheduled.

* To hold final exams at the time scheduled in the College's semester schedule, unless permission to deviate has been approved by the Division Chairperson and Vice President.

* To strive for the qualities delineated in the criteria for faculty evaluation used by the College.

* To refer students to counselors, as needed.

* To file an appropriate course syllabus or course outline with the appropriate Division Chairperson for each course taught.

* To submit required reports to the appropriate administrative personnel.

* To attend faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development and orientation activities, and other meeting as required by the President, Vice President, or Division Chairperson.

* To plan each unit or lesson, both as to content and method to make each class minute meaningful.

* To organize each course taught into an effective instrument of learning.

* To study and utilize student's learning styles in each class in order to facilitate the best teaching and learning situations.

* To incorporate instructional technologies in instructional delivery.

* To maximize the learning opportunities for each student.

* To keep informed of current trends and new approaches to instruction via professional development activities.

* To demonstrate a genuine concern for each student through personal conferences and the full use of Faculty Advisement System.

* To make suggestions to the Division Chairperson, or the Vice President concerning the improvement of curriculum in keeping with the objectives of the college.

* To become thoroughly familiar with all college policies and procedures and comply with college policies and procedures.

* To serve on and provide information to college committees as needed.

* To be actively involved in the co-curricular activities of the college.

* To convey college-related information to students in a timely manner as requested by college officials.

* To teach all classes according to an approved syllabus; to keep students informed concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.

* To participate in program and curriculum review and development.

* To maintain accurate and complete scholastic records.

* Master's degree from an accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in teaching field, required.

* Teaching experience, preferred.

* Ability and willingness to learn new instructional technology including multimedia and distance learning formats.
