Position: Carpentry and Cabinetmaking Instructor Assistant (Part-Time)
* Assist in teaching students the general safety practices necessary during carpentry and cabinetmaking operations.

* Assist the Carpentry and Cabinetmaking Instructor in the coordination of live work duties and daily oversight.

* Provides classroom support and is responsible for covering classes in the instructor's absence, ensuring continuity of instruction and student supervision.

* Recruit on behalf of the Northwest Shoals Community College Carpentry and Cabinetmaking.

* Deliver live work orders to the business office regularly.

* Assist in program publicity and in promoting the college.

* Assist with data collection, reporting, and record keeping.

* Answer the telephone and assist in office duties.

* Assist in designing and installing cabinets, shelving, and fitted furniture.

* Assist in adding fixtures and fittings such as door handles, locks, hinges and closures.

* Assist in selecting lumber by size and strength to suit each job sourcing wood to suit the customer's budget and style.

* Assist in communicating with clients, suppliers, and other construction professional.

* Conduct and maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and instructional materials.

* Assist in reading blueprints and designs to work to specifications prepared by other construction professionals, architects, and building code recommendation.

* Must comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northwest Shoals Community College.

* Maintain current with professional knowledge, skills, and required licensures through professional development and continuing education.

* Completion of all coursework in carpentry and/or cabinetmaking advancing toward an Associate Degree, required.

* Associate Degree, preferred.

* Minimum of two (2) years full-time work experience as a practitioner in the carpentry and/or cabinetmaking field, required.

* Teaching experience at the postsecondary level in the carpentry and/or cabinetmaking field, preferred.

* postsecondary transcripts (unofficial or official), which must include institution's name, college degree, and degree date.

HOURLY RATE:  $27.50 - $32.50 depending on education  (19 hours or less per week with NO BENEFITS)
