Responsibilities
- Identifying new opportunities for automation and design
- Management of a project team when necessary
- Designing new automation equipment or processes
- Simulating and testing these processes or equipment to ensure they function as desired
- Development of documentation for the new equipment and processes
- Programming new automated components to the manufacturing process
- Developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes
- Provide training where necessary - typically after implementing new processes or equipment, or making changes to existing ones
- Troubleshooting automated processes or equipment when errors occur
- Engineering Degree with 3-5 years' experience in plant technical role or technical degree with 7 years’ experience preferably in a rolling industry.
- Technical skills mastery
- Design, validation, and troubleshooting. - Proficient with high level schematics, PLC code and low to medium voltage equipment.
- Willingness to acquire new technical and leadership skills and share existing knowledge with colleagues.
- Flexibility for remote technical support after hours.
- Excellent computer skills particularly in programming and software development
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Must be able to explain novel and complex ideas to stakeholders of all levels and within multidisciplinary teams. - Problem-solving and creative thinking will be required to troubleshoot problems as they arise and find effective solutions.
Demonstrates expertise in designing, programming, and troubleshooting automation equipment and processes, with a strong focus on documentation and training. Possesses effective communication skills to convey complex ideas to diverse stakeholders and teams.
