Job Summary:The Electrical Engineer provides technical leadership for electrical infrastructure and manufacturing systems in a high-volume aluminum production environment. Responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical and control systems, this role supports plant safety, reliability, productivity, and sustainability goals. The Electrical Engineer leads troubleshooting efforts, manages capital projects, develops preventive maintenance strategies, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance equipment performance and support continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
Responsibilities:Implements systematic approaches to diagnose and locate equipment or system breakdowns or inefficiencies
Supports troubleshooting, repairs, and corrections to the operation’s analog, digital, and computerized process logic control systems
Applies engineering knowledge and principles to rolling theories, as well as casting, slitting, and coating processes in the operations
Provides design modifications to improve safety, quality, productivity, and process cost
Improves the level of preventive maintenance and equipment reliability
Promotes improvement in recovery, delivery performance, lead-time and flow time, inventory levels, costs, asset utilization, and system capability
Coordinates outage/construction project activity with production and maintenance departments
Assists in preparation of comprehensive capital maintenance and capital investment projects
Mentors and develops subordinates for advancement in the organization
Assists in the supervision of supplier interventions during installation, challenge solutions, and refines needs as necessary
Minimum - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering preferred
Some knowledge of materials (steel, concrete, asphalt, etc.) as it pertains to facilities and equipment maintenance
Solid understanding of ladder logic and HMI software; experience with AutoCAD 2013 or later version
Extensive familiarity and programming with machine control systems such as PLC's, motor control systems, man-machine interfaces and power supply requirements for low and medium voltage equipment, desired
Working knowledge of DC drives
Working knowledge of safety codes
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office software e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point
Strong problem solving, judgment, and critical thinking skills
Aptitude for detailed work requiring a high degree of accuracy
Good communication, high level of autonomy, collaboration and interpersonal skills are equally important
Perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation, and have a good track record working effectively within a team-based environment
