Base pay range: $20.00/hr - $40.00/hr merit Asphalt is actively recruiting skilled professionals for the season. A $2,000 hiring bonus is offered for experienced production new hires.

Job descriptionThis unique position is suitable for a self-starter, energetic individual who takes direction well. We are looking to fill one management position and all shifts for a year-round mechanic role. Our fleet includes medium and heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, and some small engines.
Management Duties- Perform skilled mechanical work diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, light and heavy-duty trailers, construction equipment, and small engines.
- Promote a safe working culture for all employees; work with shop personnel to minimize risk and increase safety at all times.
- Work with the President and other management to establish new policies and procedures to allow for system updates and efficient operations.
- Oversee shop operations through administrative direction to ensure adherence to the company’s vehicle fleet/equipment maintenance program.
- Prepare and file necessary tax filings, registrations, and titles as needed to meet required deadlines.
- Maintain and update the Company Equipment listing to ensure accurate insurance coverage.
- Monitor shop expenditures, working with accounting to eliminate invoice errors.
- Recommend shop equipment purchases and maintenance needs to the company president; implement and follow up on all approved purchases over $5,000.
- Read post-trip inspection write-ups and prioritize repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment/trucks that break down on jobsites to restore production.
- Diagnose driver/operator concerns, order parts, perform repairs, and verify concerns are fixed.
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area/shop.
- Maintain legible records of all repairs.
- Work hours to be performed based on company needs.
- Previous experience as a mechanic — 1 year minimum. Certifications (ASE or manufacturer) are preferred but not required.
- Welding skills required.
- Knowledge of shop equipment and environment.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects.
- Valid Wisconsin license (CDL preferred).
- Full set of tools.
- Excellent work ethic, attendance, and ability to work with others on projects.
- Resourceful with strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills.
- Some experience in electrical, drivability, and basic knowledge of scan tools.
- Detail oriented.
- Perform routine vehicle and equipment inspections.
- Perform daily maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Diagnose, repair, and order parts.
- Troubleshoot and repair downed vehicles and equipment to restore production.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance.
- Perform light to medium repairs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area/shop.
- $13.84 weekly cell phone allowance for 52 weeks.
- Eligible for year-end bonus based on company profitability.
- Paid vacation of ten (15) days. Five days during the production season; remaining time during the off season. Vacation requests must be approved by the president at least 2 weeks in advance. Time may not be carried over to the next year.
