Position SummaryThe Safety Manager is the site’s day‑to‑day leader for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs. This role partners with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and HR to prevent injuries, reduce risk, and build a proactive safety culture across all three shifts. The Safety Manager leads risk assessments (JHAs/JSAs), incident investigations, training, audits, and corrective actions using a hierarchy‑of‑controls approach and maintains OSHA compliance and recordkeeping.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties may be assigned. Individual will work a varied schedule based on client needs.
- Own and continuously improve the site Safety & Health Program; update written procedures (Haz Com, LOTO, Machine Guarding, PPE, Confined Space, Hot Work) and maintain an annual audit/inspection calendar.
- Lead LOTO and machine safeguarding: maintain equipment‑specific LOTO procedures and annual verifications; confirm guarding effectiveness at point‑of‑operation and power‑transmission hazards; coach authorized/affected employees.
- Plan and deliver new‑hire and refresher safety training across all shifts; maintain accurate records and ensure training is delivered in language and vocabulary employees understand.
- Conduct incident and near‑miss investigations using root‑cause methods; document OSHA 300/300A/301 and verify corrective action effectiveness.
- Execute routine floor inspections and behavioral observations; track and close corrective actions by due dates; elevate overdue items.
- Support chemical safety: SDS/Hazard Communication management, PPE selection, spill preparedness, and coordination of basic industrial hygiene screenings where applicable.
- Coordinate emergency readiness (EAP, first aid/CPR/AED, spill response) and lead drills with multi‑shift coverage.
- Partner with Maintenance/Engineering on risk assessments, interim protections, and engineered solutions (interlocks, presence sensing, guarding upgrades).
- Coordinate external consultations/audits and regulatory reporting as applicable; host visitors/contractors and ensure permit‑to‑work controls.
- Engage and lead the Safety Committee and shift safety champions; drive employee involvement, near‑miss reporting, and recognition.
- 3–5+ years in manufacturing safety/EHS with hands‑on floor exposure.
- Implemented or maintained a comprehensive site safety program (training, audits, investigations, corrective actions).
- Partnered effectively with Operations and Maintenance on guarding and LOTO upgrades and behavior reinforcement.
- Coordinated external consultations/audits and closed findings on time.
- Experience in data & program management: OSHA recordkeeping, dashboards, audit logs, action trackers.
- Machine safety & LOTO expertise: equipment‑specific procedures, group LOTO, annual audits, guarding verification.
- Flexibility with shift coverage & prioritization: flex hours to regularly touch all three shifts and manage multiple work streams.
