TERMS: This position is a 205 total paid days position offering full family medical, dental, and vision benefits. Dental, vision, and life insurance are paid by the district at no cost to the employee. Personal business days and sick time paid. Retirement through the Office of Retirement Services (Pension Plus or Defined Contribution).

SALARY RANGE: This position is on the nonunion Grade R, $46,338.364- $61,018.4345.

GENERAL JOB FUNCTION

The Muskegon County Virtual Academy (MCVA) Student Success Coordinator is responsible for the comprehensive systems of student support and interventions for the virtual students. This role works on improving engagement, attendance, behavior, and academic outcomes for targeted students. This role serves as a liaison between the student, family, school, and local districts to assist with overall student success.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as a mentor and case manager to an assigned group of students requiring support.
  • Facilitate individual and group training/support and provide academic resources to help students increase academic achievement.
  • Collaborate with students regularly to check in on progress in classes, keeping students accountable for achieving their academic, attendance, engagement, and behavioral goals.
  • Implement and monitor academic interventions for students identified as at-risk or struggling in specific content areas, coordinating with teachers to track progress and adjust strategies.
  • Lead the attendance team and attendance communication efforts, developing and executing communication plans to address early signs of disengagement.
  • Manage truancy intervention, tracking, documentation, and coordination of required legal or district actions. Develop communication plans to address early signs of disengagement.
  • Implement and promote Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to foster a supportive and engaging virtual school climate.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with local school districts, ensuring clear, consistent, and timely sharing of information regarding student intervention and truancy status.
  • Work alongside MCVA staff to strengthen connections to Tier 1 instruction and PBIS.
  • Provide orientation support to new students and families, ensuring a smooth onboarding process and completion of all required enrollment and virtual learning tasks.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the MCVA Principal may assign.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    ● No physical or mental restrictions that would, with reasonable accommodation, prevent performance of the essential job functions and responsibilities.

    ● Associate’s Degree in Education, Social Services, or a related field.

    ● Minimum of two years of experience in an education-related position, particularly involving student support, intervention, or case management.

    ● Proficient in technological applications to support the needs of online learners and virtual record-keeping.

    ● Effective written and oral communication skills.

    ● Prioritize work, execute tasks, and work independently.

    ● Customer service oriented.

    ● Understand and manage confidential information.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    ● Experience with virtual school programming and/or in a school setting.

    ● Prior administrative assistance experience.

    ● Innovative thinking and creativity.

    ● Experience in working with a diverse population of students.

    ● Ability to build relationships with community partners.
